Summary
We keep data collection to a minimum. We do not require an account, we do not sell personal data, and we do not run advertising on this site at the time of writing.
Who is responsible
This site is operated by the Lycian Way Guide team. You can reach us for any privacy question at info@walklycianway.com.
What we collect
- Usage statistics: we use Vercel Web Analytics (which does not use cookies) and Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are visited. Google Analytics is configured with analytics storage denied by default. Data is used in aggregate, and your IP address is not shown to us.
- Planner and feedback: if you rate the trip planner and leave a comment, we store the rating, the comment text and the page name in our database (Supabase). Please do not write personal information in that comment box.
- Trail updates: if you submit a trail condition report, we store the stage, the type of report and the message you write.
- Trip planner requests: the plan options you choose (days, level, month, direction and similar) are processed on our server and sent to Google's Gemini API to generate short tips. No name or contact details are sent.
- Contact form and email: if you use the contact form or write to info@walklycianway.com, we store your name, email address, chosen topic and message (contact form messages are stored in our Supabase database and delivered to our inbox through the FormSubmit email service) and use them only to reply to you.
- Server logs: our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps technical logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and operation.
Why we process data (legal bases)
We process data to run and improve the site (legitimate interest), to answer you when you contact us (legitimate interest or steps you requested), and, where required, on the basis of your consent. If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK this follows the GDPR; if you are in Turkey it follows the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK, Law No. 6698).
Service providers
We use the following providers, who may process data on our behalf, some of them outside your country:
- Vercel Inc. – hosting and web analytics
- Supabase – database for contact messages, feedback and trail updates
- FormSubmit – delivers contact form messages to our email inbox
- Google – Fonts, Analytics and the Gemini API
- OpenWeatherMap – weather information on stage pages
- OpenStreetMap contributors and the map libraries we load – map tiles and map scripts
How long we keep data
Feedback and trail updates are kept as long as they are useful for improving the guide, and deleted on request. Contact messages and emails are kept as long as needed to answer you, and at most 2 years. Analytics data follows the retention settings of the analytics providers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To use any of these rights, write to info@walklycianway.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
