Stage Guide

Everything you need to know before you walk

Stage 3 is short but steep — a genuine quad-burner in both directions. From Faralya the trail plunges down through maquis and pine forest, losing around 400m of elevation in under 3km. Take your time; the loose-stone path demands concentration.

The reward is the wild Kabak valley — a narrow gorge ending at a pebble beach backed by sheer cliffs. In shoulder season the beach campsite operates, serving simple food. The valley has a strong alternative-travel vibe: yoga retreats, tree-houses, and hikers who arrived for a day and stayed a week.

The beach itself is reached by a final scramble down a steep gully — ropes are sometimes fixed here. Swimming in the clear water after the descent feels extraordinary.

Key advice: There is no easy escape from Kabak except back up the way you came or by boat (in season). Confirm accommodation before descending — the valley can fill up in peak season. Carry all the water you need for your stay as sources in the valley are limited.
