Stage Guide

Everything you need to know before you walk

From Bel the trail descends steadily through olive groves and shepherd country toward the coast. The walking here has a different character to the earlier stages — wider, more agricultural, with distant sea views that appear and disappear through the trees.

The ruins of Pydnai appear suddenly among the scrub — sarcophagi, cisterns and carved rock faces marking the edge of an ancient city that few visitors ever find. It's not a dramatic site, but the isolation makes it memorable.

The coastal settlement of Özlen is the end point — a handful of houses, a small beach and usually a basic pension or camping spot. From here you are in the territory of the ancient kingdom of Lycia proper, and the walking becomes increasingly historic.

Key advice: This is a longer stage with significant navigation demands in the middle section. Download the trail GPX before starting. The approach to Özlen can be confusing — the waymarks occasionally fade.
