Everything you need to know before you walk
The ruined harbour of Aperlai is one of the most atmospheric ancient sites on the entire Lycian Way. The city walls, towers and harbour installations are partly submerged in the turquoise shallows — you can wade out and look down at the ancient quays through the clear water.
Stage 15 is remote in both directions, with demanding terrain throughout. The rewards are exceptional: the solitude, the ancient site, the swimming in crystal water, the sense of being somewhere almost no-one reaches by land.
The night at or near Aperlai (camping or a basic pension if available) is memorable — sleeping next to a sunken ancient city under a sky full of stars.
