Stage Guide

Everything you need to know before you walk

Stage 24 offers the most dramatic choice on the entire Lycian Way. Route 24A climbs to the summit of Tahtalı (Mount Olympos) at 2,365m — the high point of the entire trail. The ascent from Beycik takes 4-5 hours, the views from the summit extend to Cyprus on clear days, and the sense of achievement is immense. A cable car descends from the summit to the coast (tickets required — check availability).

Route 24B follows the coastline past the magnificent ruins of Phaselis — three harbours, an aqueduct, bath houses, a theatre and colonnaded streets, all in an extraordinary setting beneath wooded cliffs above a turquoise bay. If the summit weather looks poor, Phaselis is a worthy alternative.

Key advice: The Tahtalı summit route requires a clear day and full mountain kit — conditions can change rapidly. Check the weather carefully the night before. The cable car is the standard descent — confirm it's operating before committing to the summit route.
