Stage 24 offers the most dramatic choice on the entire Lycian Way. Route 24A climbs to the summit of Tahtalı (Mount Olympos) at 2,365m — the high point of the entire trail. The ascent from Beycik takes 4-5 hours, the views from the summit extend to Cyprus on clear days, and the sense of achievement is immense. A cable car descends from the summit to the coast (tickets required — check availability).
Route 24B follows the coastline past the magnificent ruins of Phaselis — three harbours, an aqueduct, bath houses, a theatre and colonnaded streets, all in an extraordinary setting beneath wooded cliffs above a turquoise bay. If the summit weather looks poor, Phaselis is a worthy alternative.
