Everything you need to know before you walk
The descent from the yayla into Göynük Canyon is one of the great surprises of the Lycian Way. The canyon walls close in as the path descends — sheer limestone cliffs hundreds of metres high on both sides, with the river running below. In summer the canyon pools are perfect for swimming.
The canyon has become popular with adventure sports operators running canyoning trips. You may encounter groups in wetsuits heading in the opposite direction. Don't let the crowds put you off — the canyon is genuinely spectacular.
